Jack and Jackie on their honeymoon, September 1953. After the wedding, the newlyweds flew from Newport to NYC, where they spent their wedding night in the Waldorf-Astoria hotel.  They flew to Mexico the next day, to Acapulco, where they stayed in a pink stone villa above the Pacific Ocean, lent to them by the President of Mexico.  They posed on the beach a few days later.  Jackie once told and interviewer about a highlight of their honeymoon: “My husband caught a ten-foot fish…I was in the boat but all I did was pour water on him.  It was so hot in that boiling sun and he had to fight the fish for about three hours, so I stood there pouring water on him.”  The sailfish later hung in the White House, in the appropriately named Fish Room. These photos come from Jackie’s wedding scrapbook.
